The Big Emma in Ramstein-Miesenbach

Big Emma's has a lot of seating, easy parking, is open during the day, and offers huge portions. The service is hit or miss depending on who serves you. The food is very good and you will probably bring home leftovers. The beer is generic but cold. What I didn't like is you have to get up and pay at the bar and it can be confusing if you are trying to leave a tip. My suggestion is to pay first, then find your waiter or waitress and give them the tip personally.

My family and I have often been to the Big Emma in Ramstein, whether for anniversaries or birthdays or for other occasions. The goods are right, the food tastes good and the prices are absolutely right. When I then read: I was eating in the XXL restaurant, portions way too big ... I have to think my part. The waitresses are always super friendly, with our two main courses our son got the children's plate (no, no children were processed here) with spaghetti, which could easily keep up with an adult portion and even a surprise egg for dessert. This is how customer orientation works. The salad bar, sung about by many reviewers: The display is really fresh, here and there a little paper gets lost and then shrinks from sheer sadness, but please leave the church in the village. When customers are swinging the coleslaw tongs over the beans like the king waving the scepter, it is not surprising that one or two herb threads find their way into the beans. Really shameful that the salad bar fairy, who has to work the salad bar with tweezers every 10 seconds, was not there. Personally, I think some customers are just too happy to judge negatively simply because it's fun. The only thing I really have to complain about: It has got around more than word that the owner reacts very extensively to negative reviews. I can understand this, it hurts when strange anonymous reviewers drag your life's work into the mud just to provoke a reaction. I would therefore like to wish the owner to simply deal with nonsensical negative criticism in a relaxed manner, in the sense of “Honor us again”. Edit: Thank you very much for your answer. That all sounds very good. When everything goes back to normal and the catering is full again, we'll be happy to come back. I'm really looking forward to all of the innovations. Good service, good drinks, excellent cuisine. What more could you want on vacation. Unfortunately 300 km away to be a frequent guest.

My husband & I'd found this hidden gem of a German themed restaurant while house hunting & am SO GLAD that we did! From their "tongue in cheek" road sign to draw in the crowds, to their friendly & welcoming staff that speak English (which was such a total relief to us.). To start, I got Big Emma's Cocktail & our waitress suggested a Crystal Wizner German beer for my husband to try. Which we'd both enjoyed. Mine was sweet & strong, after a couple of sips I'd felt a little buzz. It'd also tasted like a "Bahama Mama" with the coconut liquor & fruit juice & Wayne said that his beer was pretty smooth without the bite that the darker lagers have. Not to mention that he'd said that it was WAY BETTER than the "overpowering" wheat tasting bottled beer that he'd gotten at the front desk of the hotel that we're staying at, when we'd first arrived. But, once our food arrived there was no more time to mess around & get to getting our grub on! We could smell the delicious meats BEFORE the server even turned the corner! It'd smelled SO GOOD & the meats were still sizzling as they brought them to our table! Wayne, had ordered the 17oz. Grilled Rumpsteak in Herb Butter & OMG! The top was nicely crisped for that AMAZING crunch as you bite into a slice of juicy, tender ONOLICIOUSLY prepared cut of beef! I was jealous that I hadn't ordered that instead! But, the Big Emma's Mixed Grill of SUCCULENT cuts of Beef, boneless & skinless Chicken Breast (filled with cuts of fresh veggies) & Pork wasn't bad at all, either! We'd shared cuts with each other & STILL had leftovers to take home. But, I can't forget to mention our sides that'd completed our meals: an order of German seasoned Fried Potatoes & Onions served with Big Emma's Special dip & an order of buttery, nicely seasoned Spaetzle with Peppered Gravy drizzled on it! Back in Hawai'i we have a saying when food is SO GOOD, "Bruh! Da Kine Brok' da Mout'! Dat one!" & these DEFINITELY EARNED that title. They could've been a main entree on their own, they were THAT GOOD! But, because my husband spoils me & allows me to punish the 2 of us by overeating WAY BEYOND our limits! We're in an authentic German restaurant so for dessert, I'd ordered an Apple Strudel with Vanilla Ice Cream & Whipped Cream to share. "When in Rome, do like the Romans"...I SERIOUSLY should've asked for their "rollout service" because after eating all of their AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS food, I'd NEEDED to be rolled out somewhere for a nap! It'll be a little while before we go back...still new to the area, so we're kind of homeless. But, once we get settled, we'll DEFINITELY go back & check out the rest of Big Emma's menu.

Huge portions for a reasonable price. There is nothing wrong with the taste. If the eyes are bigger than the stomach allows, there are containers ready to take the rest with you. I can only recommend it and will be back.

The food was great and ready quite quickly. The condition was also great. I absolutely cannot complain.

It's fine, portions are the gimmick, if you want a decent schnitzel and crispy fried you'll find it here.

Super friendly service, large portions, it went really quickly and tasted really good. I would recommend it without reservation. The disadvantage is you can't manage the portion and the next day there is bad weather (but that was bad before).

When you go to a place with BIG in the name expert BIGGGGG! Great service and great food.

Not exactly on the doorstep, but still recommendable after years.

Much too crowded, no distance rules, no hand disinfectant and the biggest hammer, no one wears a mask at the salad buffet. Small children hang with their noses in the buffet ... doesn't work at all. Eat, well, smaller portions and good for it.

The food looked really delicious, but unfortunately it was simply tasteless, salt and pepper didn't help anymore. The sauces all had zero taste, just like the vanilla ice cream. We thought maybe that was what it was called quality like in an ice cream parlor. But the ice cream was completely tasteless, only the strawberry sauce that was on top had taste, really unbelievable. We were also surprised that nothing was going on on a Sunday afternoon. Now we know why. Once and never again, really sad. The 2nd star is for the beer, it was at the right temperature 😉 PS: okay, then only 1 star, if only 10 people are there on a Sunday afternoon / evening that is not much for me 🤣 just like the taste was not much, what should you say, maybe try something for yourself served 😉

The steak is delicious and of good quality. The rest of the food has always been good so far. Unfortunately, the entire interior, especially the tables and the salad bar, is not particularly clean but rather greasy and a little dingy. It's a shame as the steak is really very good!

Huge portions so go hungry or be prepared to take food home! I had the mixed grill. Meat was cooked nicely but a bit too much herb. The brats are terrific.

My husband and I have been living in Germany for almost 3 years and every time we go see movie in a local cinema (Kino), they were always advertising this place so I really wanted to come and try. On our last week before we leave, we finally make our way to the restaurant. We don’t eat a lot in general so we always get a plate to share. This place, we couldn’t share and maybe it’s because of the COVID but we had been to other places in the the same area and even in different countries during the outbreak and we had no problem sharing food. Their portion size is ridiculous. Their 1/2 portion will be able to feed 2 people no problem. It’s a waste of time, money and food. Very disappointing.

After being here before and loving the food (Approx 1 Years ago) I opted to take my girlfriend with me this time. Unfortunately this experience was nothing like the one a year ago as my food (Mushroom schnitzel) was a 6 out of 10 (At best) but her steak seemed like something pre heated, thrown into a microwave and served half cooked and as hard as a stone. Her Bratkartoffeln were sour as well which I noticed has been mentioned before so could be due to the sauce used or maybe the gravy. They were replaced however the 2nd portion tasted no different Normally I wouldn’t complain but my girlfriends family own a restaurant (Where she worked in the kitchen for 18 years) and she is pretty savvy when it comes to how good should taste as well as when something tastes “funny”. Now the good news and reason I still gave 3 stars; when mentioning the above the staff not only apologised straight away but also removed her meal from bill so from that standpoint thanks very much Team Big Emma!

The food is amazing. Make sure your eyes are as big as your stomach because the size of the meals will be bigger then you expect but they food is well worth it. Very respectful Duane

Added new stuff to the menu since my last time I was in K-town (2014). But still won't let you down with the extreme potions of food. To help with steak, may want to cut in half so can be tender all the way and cooked all the way through.

If you're starving go for the 1/2..yes 1/2 burger. Amazing !

The portions were as expected huge but more importantly the quality of the food is really good. However the best thing about this restaurant is the super friendly staff. My children said that the waiter was the friendliest waiter they have ever met. I might agree.

What a great restaurant. I had the Tenderloin steak and it was amazing. Also, the waiter was very respectful and respectful with the time. I enjoyed my time and definitely will be returning.
